DK: I like to think of myself as hip-hop artist. That’s what I’ve been most musically influenced by, and that’s what I try to create. I definitely have some melodic type hooks, but it’s all hip-hop.
DK: I remember my sophomore year of high school I was playing JV basketball, and one of my friends was going over to this kid’s house after practice to record for the first time. I can’t remember if I had to give my friend a ride home from practice that day or what, but I ended up going with him to the house. I was also friends with the kids that were already there, and they were recording on like a free program with a 30 dollar mic from Best Buy. Once we were there and they all started writing and rapping, I decided to do it too. That’s when I wrote my first 16, and the rest is history.
DK: Well, we had been working on the ideas for awhile, so once we got down to recording it only took about 2 or 3 days of shooting over the span of a week. Then Matt did his thing with the editing, and I am really happy with how it turned out.

Fowl – The Commencement
Fowl Paper bags
Forever Official

GoodMusicAllDay: Yo Fowl, what’s your real name? And how’d you come up with the rap name Fowl?
Fowl: My name is Saffal Tall, its African (and so is my father). My rap name was given to me by my pops, he jus took the first half off. He told me I needed a new one cause the (unnamed name) was terrible. lol
GoodMusicAllDay: When was the first time you remember rapping?
Fowl: I rapped for the 1st time in like 5th grade. I made up a funny rap about 1nna my classmates. I used to write bars in 3rd grade tho, I jus can’t remember sayin them until 5th lol
GoodMusicAllDay: What’s the best story you got from a rap battle or freestyle (as far as something said or someone freezing or anything)?
Fowl: Man, this guy was choppin me up somethin fierce one time LOl. He was talkin about this vest I wear a lot. It’s from a Roc-A-Fella conference (my uncle was Dame Dash’s driver). My uncle gave it to me, and the guy cracked on it pretty hard lol

Pauldube
High
Dollar And A Dime
-
GoodMusicAllDay: Being a school teacher in Maryland, how’d you get started in music?
Pauldube: It’s not a very rock star answer but my parents were the ones to really develop my music life. Started with piano lessons and listening to the beatles at a young age and it’s something I’ve always had on the back burner ever since.
GoodMusicAllDay: You do everything from producing the beat to playing the guitar to singing and rapping, quite impressive, walk us through the creation of a song . . .
Pauldube: It all depends. Sometimes I start with a beat, put on a loop, and mess around on the guitar and record a few things until I get something I like. Other times I’ll start with a guitar lick or something I’ve been messing around with and build a beat around that. Once I flesh out the song, I put in some filler lyrics until I get a melody I like. Whatever the process, I usually end with the lyrics.
GoodMusicAllDay: What’s your favorite song you have done so far?
Pauldube: Probably “high”. That’s probably the best mix of hip hop and pop that I’ve managed to pull off so far. Like most good songs, it’s a bout a girl but I think it can be related to a lot of things in life. Whether your pursuing a girl, or dreams, or art, the pursuit itself creates a certain high that may seem fleeting but is ultimately worth it.

Mother Earth Remixes
Look After You / Barry Bonds

Halo / Tupac

GoodMusicAllDay: Thanks for doing this interview, what’s your real name and how’d you come up with Mother Earth Remixes (pretty sick name btw)?
Mother Earth Remixes: My real name is Andrew David (go ahead and say it – never trust a person with 2 first names). The name Mother Earth came from back when I started making music and I called myself the “Creator”. Then some friends started saying how Mother Earth is the creator of all things so they started calling me that as a joke. I mean it’s real feminine and sounded funny at the time so I eventually just gave in and the name stuck.
GoodMusicAllDay: How’d you get started in the whole music scene?
Mother Earth Remixes: I started making beats in high school by sampling other songs. Because I grew up in the suburbs and no one couldn’t rap, I didn’t have any one to spit. So just to hear what it sounded like I would throw acapellas from real songs over them. I kept doing it and from there it just transformed into full out mashups.
GoodMusicAllDay: What’s your favorite track you have done so far?
Mother Earth Remixes: Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and The Fray – Look After You/Barry Bonds mashup. I don’t know what it is, maybe the piano beat, but I just love that one.
