Emilio Rojas – Breaking Point (Mixtape)

Here’s the newest mixtape released (2 days ago) by Emilio Rojas. With a Billionaire Boys Club sponsorship and some of the best mixtape producers making the beats, this is a next level project for Emilio. For those of you who don’t recognize the name, I use to cover him a lot more in the first year of GMAD but stopped covering as much over the last year and a half. Well seeing this new mixtape on Datpiff brought me back and listening to this tape made me wish we never fell off him. Enjoy.

Dee Goodz – The Introduction of Donald G (Long awaited free album!)

donaldgcover

The Introduction of Donald G is DOPE. This free album has been so hyped and GMAD is proud to bring you Dee Goodz’ new work. Donald G is the first great project of 2012.

Bloody and Unbowed is an excellent opening track. Once Dee jumps in he goes HARD. This song really sets the tone for the first half of the album and it is BAD ASS. In the second track, Life & Time Dee talks about how big of a year 2011 was for him as an opener at concerts for Big Boi, Raekwon, Questlove and Talib Kweli – quite the resume, I’m excited to see who he works with in the future. I heard an early version of track 3, Super Duper Hard, a couple months ago and I knew it would be a banger. This version is perfect and so catchy. I literally can’t listen to this song without bobbin’ my head. Dee’s rapping is so on point at 1:30+. I could talk about this song for hours. Accustomed, featuring Milly Roze is another great track. If you haven’t heard Milly Roze definitely check her out (My favorite song of hers is Stay – it’s perfect).

Can we talk about BEATS? Stakes is High is crazy! Definitely on some trippy shit. I really dig how Dee sounds at 1:40 on this song. The next track The Long Road Home has another dope beat. The guitar going throughout feels very fresh. This might be my favorite track on the whole album. Dee’s lyrics are really incredible. We Get Hi is a weed song with a swag twist. Weed songs in 2011 all started to sound that same by the end of the year, y’know? If people rip off Dee and this song defines the weed song tone of 2012, I’m alright with that. The only line I want to mention in Beat 2 Beat is: My white homies love me / they be like ‘he’s a beast’.

In the words of Dee Goodz himself, I Gottem‘s “swag is off the meter”. I really like the chop n’ screw sound Dee uses on this. Just my prediction here, but we’re going to see a lot more rappers are using this technique soon… Track 12, Doin It 2012, has another feature from Milly Roze. I think there’s a little auto-tune on this one, but not it a bad way! I was never a ”autotune is dead” guy, and Dee uses it tastefully here. Next Year is a fun and honest song about how “broke is just a mindset”. It’s swag, fresh and lighthearted just like the next track Neva’ Change. Neva Change is about his hometown, Antioch, TN and his friends there.

Overall, Dee Goodz’ project The Introduction of Donald G is excellent.

This has been by far my most extensive blog post on GMAD to date and I’m glad it was for such a great project. Dee Goodz has created a real gem with Donald G. It goes without saying at this point, but
Donald G is a MUST DOWNLOAD.

Shwayze – (W)E (E)Volve (E)Very (D)Ay (Free EP)

Despite recently finishing up their tour (with G – Eazy opening for the duo), Shwayze is still hard at work to start 2012. With a clever project name, and extremely subtle pot reference, the mixtape caught my eye on a couple other websites this week. I just finally got the chance to give it a listen and I was pleased and liked a couple of the tracks. You can preview the whole tape at datpiff or just preview the below tracks and download the tape from us. Keep evolving …

Bassnectar – Divergent Spectrum Remixes EP

Since the release of their latest album, Divergent Spectrum, Bassnectar has been gathering remixes to some of the tracks off the LP. As a sign of their gratitude, they decided it was a good idea to unleashes a collection of the remixes in an EP of sorts. This collection is more intended for DJs, however Bassnectar was nice enough to bless us with the audio as well. Tracklist after the flip. Enjoy..

Cherub – Man of the Hour

SEXY, FUNKY, GROOVY, FRESH, PSYCHEDELIC , SWAG to the infinite, or really any other adjective that you could possibly imagine to describe how amazing some music is when it is first introduced to your ears, describes Cherub. Jordan Kelley and Jason Huber are the masterminds behind Cherub with a common goal to share a little bit of sex, a little bit of drugs, and a whole lot of love with people across the globe. Here are a few of my favorites, I dont even have to call the Man of the Hour EP a MUST DOWNLOAD, just listen to the first track for yourself and see what you end up doing after. 3LAU – We Found House EP

Here’s a trifecta of releases courtesy of 3LAU, collectively termed “We Found House” and packaged as sort of a FreEP. The three mixes touch on a whole slue of songs, so let’s go through them one by one.

The first track blends together Basto’s “Again and Again” with the acapella of RiRi’s “We Found Love.”

Download: Basto feat. Rihanna – We Found House (3LAU Big Room Bootleg)

Next up, the “Progressive Bootleg” meshes together a plethora of tracks: Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman Remix’s remix of Dinka’s “Reach For Me,” Swedish House Mafia’s take on Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” and once again Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love.”

Download: Dinka feat. Coldplay & Rihanna – We Found House (3LAU Progressive Bootleg)

To complete the triumvirate we have a blend of Knife Party’s “Internet Friends,” Nicky Romero’s “Toulouse” and the acapellas from LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It” and once again Rihanna.

Download: Knife Party & Nicky Romero – We Found House (3LAU Modertalking Bootleg)

Rick Ross – Rich Forever (Mixtape)

RUH! It is finally here. The MMG head honcho unleashes what he is calling a mixtape, but in reality is more like a free album full of what is presumably God Forgives, I Don’t leftovers. Nothing more needs to be said. There are monster producers and monster features littered all over this. Hit the flip to see production credits/features. Enjoy what is sure to be one of the best releases of 2012 from someone who is poised to be one of, if not the biggest name, in 2012. Enjoy.. Enjoy.. Enjoy..

T.I. – F**k Da City Up (Mixtape)

I’m well aware this mixtape hit the interwebs on the first of the year, but we all have to play a late pass at some point. Here is Clifford’s latest mixtape, following his second release from prison in so many years. As you may remember, Tip released F*ck a Mixtape after his first stint in the big house. This time, T.I. seems much more interested in remaining his freedom, which I’m sure we’d all like to see happen, not only for his musical abilities, but for this friends, family, and children. Features from a whole slue or artists on here, as well as proudction from the likes of Just Blaze, Dr. Dre & more. Enjoy..

As a prelude to the release of his long overdue debut album release, Mr. Wisner releases a collection of his recent releases, as well as some new material. I don’t know when we will finally his debut effort, but the current plan is for a 2012 release. He really went over that “My World” instrumental. I tip my cap to you Sammy. Enjoy..

Jon Kilmer Studios – Sheeps, Jeeps, and Beats (Free Instrumental CD)

He Can Do It All. Jon Kilmer utilizes the word “legit” more than anyone I know … and he may just be the most deserving guy I personally know to use that word. His company, Jon Kilmer Studios, has established itself as arguably the best when it comes to music video production for upcoming artists (3 videos over 1 million views with Collin McLoughlin, 1 over 400k with Tayyib Ali, and 1 over 250k with Mike Stud) … but this project establishes his credibility as a producer. He has been producing for years now, but this project is on a whole different level. With 10 original instrumentals, this project is a must download, especially for any upcoming artist. Shout out to FNT with the exclusive drop of the project. Oh yeah, and that artwork, well it’s exactly what you would expect from the man who wants all to “witness the legitness” … below are my two favorites, but you’ll want to download the whole project
