When I saw that The Knocks (one of my favorite new groups) did a cover of Midnight City (one of my favorite tracks of the past year, if not my #1 favorite) I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I figured that it wouldn’t be your normal cover…. and boy was that an understatment. Using Mandy Lee for vocals of not only the lyrics, but also to sing the iconic synth part that everyone loves from the original, The Knocks really make something new and unique out of a track that only a select few should even attempt to remix. I don’t know what to say if you don’t find yourself singing to this track within a few listens….. Enjoy!
We just gave you Ed Sheeran’s collab project with Yelawolf yesterday, but in my opinion I think that his solo work is worlds better than the The Slumdon Bridge EP, but also almost the complete opposite type of music. Consisting of a sound that could be described as a blend between Jason Mraz, James Blunt, and James Kelley, Ed Sheeran has EASILY became my current favorite non rap or electro artist out right now, and I really hope he becomes huge in the US, because I think he has a crazy amount of talent. Truthfully, his recent album ‘+’ is currently my favorite full album of probably the past few months, consisting of such must-haves as Lego House, Small Bump, The A Team, and my favorite track by him, Drunk (which is located in the video above). She’s A Keeper is a new band to be on the look-out for. Originally from Kansas City, these kids are pumping out some seriously good folk. From their upcoming live EP, ‘Stupid Heart’ is a beautiful song that everyone listen. It’s the kind of song that sticks with you throughout the day. Off their upcoming album Beware And Be Grateful, Chicago math-rock band Maps & Atlases have released a new song called ‘Winter’ for free. We’re big fans of Maps over here at GMADindie. The last time they came through Nashville we saw them at the intimate Mercy Lounge. After an excellent electric performance they came off the stage to play acoustically on the floor and I was literally sitting at Dave Davison’s (lead singer) feet. Awesome show.

Jeeze… Is it possible for RAC to release a track that I don’t instantly fall in love with? Well let’s just say so far they havn’t let me down and this remix of Love U More by Sunday Girl is just as catchy and smooth as any other track in their library. Having their signature synth and just overall feel good vibe, this track is one that any electro-indie fan needs to have. Enjoy!
Caddywhompus is a band with a completely new sound that can only be described as Caddywhompus. From the swamps of New Orleans, Chris Rehm (guitar/vocals) and Sean Hart (drums) have created a style of music I’ve heard nothing like, but once I listened to it I became quickly addicted – LIKE A CRACK HEAD. If you like to “rage” then Caddywhompus is a must download.

3 days ago I posted a nice mashup that used Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and mixed it with Hardwell, and after a few people send me their remixes in response to that post…. here is my favorite. More less just taking the original instrumental and converting it into a nice elctro jingle and adding some bass, Myndset keeps enough of the original to please the Gotye fans and also adds enough new sounds to call it his own. Truthfully, a perfect blend of electro and indie to make this a damnnn good remix. Enjoy!
