Move out of the way R. Kelly, Chris Brown, The-Dream, and Trey Songz… there’s a R&B act that’s showing you up.
Much like Frank Ocean, The Weeknd is becoming a notable act. I love R&B, but many of you do not appreciate it as much if it’s not mixed with rap or has a high tempo beat. Well, at least how I interpret it by the download numbers. The Weeknd is a solo R&B act out of Toronto, who gained notoriety when Drake co-signed him by tweeting lyrics to his song “Wicked Games” and posting the song on Drake’s blog October’s Very Own. This may be a first effort from The Weeknd, but it is an amazing album full of slow jams for your late night enjoyment to get the ladies in the mood. With a pure voice as The Weeknd has, along with incredible production, he will be atop the billboard charts soon enough. Expect The Weeknd to make some major moves soon enough with a possibility of collabs with Drake and 40 in the future. Just like we saw Drake’s mixtape So Far Gone become an EP for pruchase, I could see easily see many of these songs sold on iTunes and become heavily purchased.
