Brand new tape from Cam Meekins!
Wow. I’ll admit that i’ve always been a fan of Cam Meekins so i’ve said this about all three of his mixtapes at this point, but this is really the best yet. Two of Cam’s greatest strengths have always been beat selection and lyricism, only spitting what he knows which is not always easy when you’re only seventeen. 1993 highlights Cam’s strengths and downplays any weaknesses. It’s one of the most cliché ways to describe a tape/album, but to be honest, it really does have something for everyone. A re-work of one of my favorites from his first tape “My Baby”, a remix of Jason Mraz’s recent classic “I’m Yours” entitled “I’m Bored” produced by Jon Kilmer, and two tracks produced by Big Jerm of ID Labs out in Pittsburgh. Unlike other rappers right now who try to be something they’re not, Cam has found a style that’s perfect for him, so he’s embracing that and working to perfect it.
